BLACK TAP CRAFTED BURGERS & SHAKES
Black Tap started as a 16-seat burger restaurant in SoHo in March 2015. Today Joe Isidori, Founder of Black Tap has 11 outlets around the world. The first international Black Tap opened in Dubai in January 2017. Black Tap won the coveted title of Fan Favorite at the New York City Wine & Food Festival’s.
Let’s Burger! We sat on the tables we ordered the all American burger for the price of 68 AED dirhams. The burger presentation is unique, more likely building your own which is fun and entertaining. Pickles, lettuce and tomato are on the side. Therefore, you don’t have to complicate matters by changing the menu to take things off. The fact that they created a properly served dish rather than fast food serving is a great idea.
Black tap uses a Wagyu beef patty which is an exceptional choice. Black tap definitely don’t compromise on their quality, while their patties are well cooked with a crisp surface texture. Serving a generous gastropub burger with a 150 g plus or minus makes the primary ingredient the beef. This is how it should be!
They are using a potato roll bun, absolutely wonderful choice, buttery flavour and soft and pillowy texture. The sweet potato chips were just as they should be, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Perfectly cooked! The gherkin pickles were crunchy, sweet and flavorful.
SALT ABU DHABI
Named after a simple ingredient. Starting as a food truck, the burger joint salt has opened its door in the UAE since 2014, positioning themselves upon all the burger joints.
it’s been a while I m hearing great reviews about salt. Apparently, they have one of the best burgers in the UAE. On that day I and my wife decided to try Salt burgers. We went there and ordered the original for the price of 32 AED. Salt serves two sliders instead of one burger.
Let’s get serious! When the slider was served, It looked bite size. My first impression felt that they were tiny but cute. However, I loved the fact that they have created their signature.
Once I had a bite of their slider, it was gorgeous instantly. They are using a potato roll, buttery flavour, soft and pillowy texture. I’m seeing lots of burger joints these days using potato rolls! They are using a wagyu beef for the pattie great choice and defenelty they do not compromise on their quality. The pattie surface was crispy as it should be done in my opinion. However, slightly dry but full of flavour and juicy due to the proper fat ratio.
The cheese wasn’t as expected, personally, I would prefer if they used an aged cheddar instead of the processed cheese. Pickles were fresh and crunchy. But what was really interesting about their sliders that took my breath away. The primary ingredient of their cute slider was actually the entire slider itself. Therefore, you can feel all the ingredients at the same time. From the bun to the cheese, sweet pickles and pattie. You don’t feel full and heavy after devouring them.
BURGER AND LOBSTER
Burger and lobster open since 2011. Specialising in only two dishes, prime burgers served with wild fresh Atlantic lobsters and lobster roll. Burger and Lobster currently have multiple sites in London, New York, Dubai, Bangkok, Malaysia’s and Kuwait.
Burger and lobster in Dubai is a must visit as per most of my colleagues. So let’s go straight to the point and review their classic burger. I ordered the 80 Oz original burger for the price of 89 AED. As the dish came to the tables it was well presented, served on paper on an oval metal plate.
Firstly, the burger size was big enough to grab it in both hands with a consistent portion of beef. Secondly, the brioche bun with black sesame seeds was surely properly and freshly baked. However, I felt the bun was missing something, it was soft enough but I felt had no buttery flavour. The primary ingredient is beef patty. However, it lacked taste, the charcoaly taste was missing due to the beef cut and choice in my opinion. However, it had a meat-juice, tender and cooked to perfection. The fat ration, in my opinion, needed adjustment. The steamed taste or texture, I’m not sure, in a certain way wasn’t enjoyable. Lastly, the cheese was a perfect choice using a slice of properly melted cheddar cheese. It gave the burger a sharper, bolder Beautiful flavour.
FIVE GUYS BURGERS AND FRIES
Five Guys is a Fast- casual restaurant focused on Burgers. The first Five Guys restaurant opened in 1986 in Virginia, founded by Janie and Jerry Murrell. By 2001, the chain had expanded throughout the Washington DC metro area. As of 2016, Five Guys had over 1,500 locations open worldwide.
Let’s go straight to the point. The Five Guys menu is simple. The menu also has about eight toppings you can add for free and seven which should be paid for. We decide on that day to try the burger with the classical vegetables and cheese. The burger price was for 67 AED. The burger was foiled in an Aluminium along with the fries in a paper bag.
The presentation wasn’t appealing enough, maybe because the concept was more about fast food. The burger Bun was too soft and soggy which is didn’t enjoyed. The burger was generously served with double patties, it was consistent, hand size and juicy. I believe that the patties were crumbly and soft but surely lacked flavour.
The patties charcoly flavour that I was looking for wasn’t there and that was due to the Beef choice, in my opinion. However, the whole Burger experience wasn’t bad at all. The fries were great and the peanut idea was wonderful to start with.
WHAT IS WAGYU BEEF?
Wagyu literally means Japanese cow. It is an old breed of beef cattle originating in Japan. Wagyu cattle are significantly different than the traditional breeds of European and Bos Indicus cattle that have been bred in Australia for more than 100 years. They are medium-sized, hardy cattle with great temperament and unique meat quality attributes.
Wagyu beef is around the world because of its superior eating quality compared with other breeds of cattle. Not only does wagyu beef have higher levels of intramuscular fat or marbling. The meat texture is finer, resulting in a more flavoursome eating experience. The wagyu is known for its marbled appearance and for being so tender it literally melts in your mouth. However, it’s also proven to be good for you. Wagyu has a higher amount of monounsaturated fats (the good fats) and omega 3 and 6 than other beef.
